Long story short, my parents are getting older and we’re thinking about building a small ADU in the backyard of their Palo Alto home so they can stay close but still have their own space. The main house kitchen and bathroom are also pretty worn out, and since we’re already tearing things up, it feels silly not to do everything at once. I’m based in the UAE for work so I’ll be managing most of this from far away, which adds a whole layer of stress. I’ve been asking around for a company that can handle ADU construction and kitchen bath renovation in Palo Alto under one roof, because the idea of hiring an ADU builder and then a separate kitchen remodeler and then a bathroom contractor sounds like a recipe for finger pointing and delays. Has anyone here done a combined project like this? Did bundling actually save you money and time, or did it create more headaches? Also any tips on what to watch for in the contract when the scope is that big? I’m equal parts excited and nervous about it.
