I’ve been dealing with a harsh 2-3 shift on my 2015 Yukon for almost a year, and after two different garages in Dubai told me I needed a full rebuild for over 12k AED, I was about to give up. A colleague who owns a Silverado told me to try a place in Sharjah that specialises in American trucks, and I took it there for a proper GMC Gearbox Workshop Sharjah – best decision I’ve made. The mechanic diagnosed a worn valve body and a sticking solenoid in about an hour, rebuilt just the affected parts, and charged me less than a third of what the other shops quoted. My Yukon shifts smooth as butter again and I’ve got peace of mind without selling a kidney. If your GMC’s transmission is acting up, don’t let anyone talk you into a full rebuild before a proper diagnosis. These guys actually know what they’re doing.

Harsh 2-3 shift on a Yukon for a year and two shops jumping straight to full rebuild quotes without even checking the valve body first. Classic lazy diagnosis on a very diagnosable fault.

A worn valve body and sticking solenoid fixed for a third of 12k is exactly why you never accept a rebuild quote without a proper specialist opinion first.

American truck transmissions get misdiagnosed constantly in Dubai because most shops don’t have experience with the 6L80 specifically. Sharjah specialists who focus on these units make all the difference.

Colleague recommendations from someone who actually drives the same platform are worth their weight in gold. Silverado and Yukon share the same drivetrain so that referral was spot on.

Smooth shifting after a valve body rebuild on a Yukon that was harsh for a full year must feel like a completely different truck. Really glad you pushed back on those rebuild quotes instead of just accepting them.
